**What is Upcycle App?**
Upcycle App is an eco-friendly junk removal service based in Sacramento, California. We use AI-powered technology to analyze items, provide instant pricing, and route each item to donation, recycling, or responsible disposal. Our goal is to divert as much as possible of what we collect away from landfills.

**How does Upcycle App work?**
Submit a quote request with photos. Our AI analyzes items, estimates volume, and provides transparent pricing. Local vetted providers bid on your job. We schedule pickup, and items are sorted for donation, recycling, or disposal.

**What areas do you serve?**
Sacramento, CA and surrounding areas: Elk Grove, Folsom, Roseville, Davis, Rancho Cordova, Citrus Heights, Rocklin.

**How much does junk removal cost?**
Pricing depends on the volume, weight, and type of items you need picked up. Our AI analyzes your photos to build a quote, and we confirm the price with you before anything is scheduled — you approve it before you're charged anything.

**Do you donate items instead of dumping them?**
Yes. Donation is our first priority. Our AI disposal routing evaluates every item. Reusable items are routed to local reuse and donation outlets, or to a nonprofit you choose. Our goal is to divert as much as possible away from landfills.

**What items do you accept?**
Furniture, appliances, electronics, mattresses, yard waste, construction debris, clothing, and general household items.

**What items can you not take?**
Hazardous chemicals, asbestos, medical waste, ammunition, explosives, and radioactive materials.

**How do I become a provider?**
Visit /become-a-provider. You need a valid driver's license, hauling vehicle, liability insurance, and a smartphone. Onboarding takes about 15 minutes.

**How do providers get paid?**
Providers are paid through Stripe Connect. No franchise fees — we take a platform commission on completed jobs.

**Can I get a receipt for a donated item?**
Upcycle App is a business, not a nonprofit, so we don't issue our own donation receipts. If you'd like a nonprofit's own donation receipt instead, tell us at the time of booking — we can route your items to a nonprofit you choose, and that nonprofit issues its own receipt.

**Do you offer same-day pickup?**
We don't promise same-day pickup — ask us and we'll tell you what's realistically available in your area. We confirm a pickup window once we see what you have.

**What payment methods do you accept?**
All major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) processed securely through Stripe.

**What percentage of items do you divert from landfills?**
Our goal is to divert as much as possible through a combination of donation, recycling, and material recovery. We do not have a measured diversion rate to publish.

**Do I need to be home during pickup?**
We prefer someone over 18 be present, but contactless pickups are available if items are left in an accessible location.

**Which nonprofits and organizations do you work with?**
We don't have formal partnerships with specific nonprofits today. We route usable items to local reuse and donation outlets based on what they accept and their current intake capacity. If you have a nonprofit you'd like your items to go to, tell us and we'll do our best to route them there.
